Gaussian Splat lets you turn images or videos into an explorable 3D scene, then navigate it, lock in a camera angle, and render that view as a final image.
Unlike traditional 3D, which builds scenes from polygon meshes, a Gaussian Splat scene is made of millions of tiny, semi-transparent points. This lets you move through the scene in real time. It can also look a little scattered or rough up close, but that won't show up once you render your final shot.
Generating a 3D world
Add the World Labs node and connect at least one input: an image, a prompt, or a video. You can add up to 5 images, adding more than one gives you more control over the resulting scene.
World Labs has two model options:
Plus - Higher detail and precision, best when quality matters most.
Mini - Lower cost, well suited for quick iterations or when less detail is needed.
A 3D world is made up of many individual points rather than solid surfaces, so it can look a little scattered or rough, especially up close or from certain angles. This is expected, and it won't carry over once you render a shot using an image model.
Navigating and composing your scene
Once your world is generated, use these controls to move around and frame the scene you want to render:
Orbit - Rotates around a fixed point in the scene. This is the default mode.
Fly - Moves through the scene in the direction the camera is facing, rather than along fixed axes. Use W to move forward, S to move backward, A to move left, and D to move right, relative to where you're looking, plus E to move up and Q to move down. Move the mouse to look around while flying.
You don't need to switch modes manually. Using W/A/S/D automatically switches to Fly mode, and starting a drag switches back to Orbit mode. You can also switch modes using the Camera Mode toggle on the node. To pan the camera, hold the middle mouse button and drag.
The node also includes Field of View (how wide or narrow the camera's view is) and Dimensions (the output width and height in pixels, with an option to keep them proportional). Adjust either as many times as you need while composing your scene.
Reset returns Camera Mode, Field of View, and Dimensions to their defaults. The lock icon locks all three so they can't be changed until you unlock it.
Rendering a scene
The World Labs node produces two outputs: a navigable 3D world, and a rendered image based on your current camera angle in that world.
Once you've selected an angle, feed the rendered image into an image model along with a prompt describing the desired style or lighting. This lets you lock in the camera angle and composition first, then generate the final result, rather than controlling the camera through prompting alone.
Importing and exporting scenes
Gaussian Splat scenes use the .ply file format. Import a .ply file to view and navigate an existing scene, or export a scene you've created in Weave to use elsewhere.
